This calendar is dedicated to the photoelectric effect*, which was explained in 1905 by Albert Einstein based on Max Planck's hypothesis about the quantum nature of light.

There are four main periods of the year: low energy, solar activity, peak energy, and trough energy. Depending on the strength of the sun, a different number of photons reach the earth, which directly affects the strength of the photoelectric effect. Each season represents a phase of the photoelectric effect in the annual cycle.

*The photoelectric effect is the interaction of light or any other electromagnetic radiation with matter, in which the energy of the photons is transferred to the electrons of the matter.
